Who has to register for Professional Tax (PT) in Maharashtra?

Every employer in Maharashtra with at least one employee must register for PTRC (employer) and deduct PT from salaries. Self-employed professionals register for PTEC. Full slabs and registration steps on the Maharashtra PT guide.

What is the current PF wage ceiling and contribution rate?

The statutory PF wage ceiling is ₹15,000/month. Employee + employer each contribute 12% (10% in specific notified industries). Employees earning above the ceiling can be PF members on voluntary basis. Full PF guide coming soon.

How many holidays must a Mumbai employer grant in 2026?

National holidays: 3 (Republic Day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti). Plus state-gazetted festival holidays declared by Maharashtra government, typically 7-10 days. Plus weekly off. Full Maharashtra 2026 holiday list page coming soon.

Is POSH (ICC) mandatory for small companies?

Yes. Any workplace with 10+ employees must constitute an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) under the POSH Act 2013, file annual reports with the District Officer and conduct prevention training. POSH compliance guide coming soon.

What is Maharashtra LWF and how often is it paid?

Maharashtra Labour Welfare Fund. Half-yearly contribution by both employer and employee, filed in June and December. Rates vary by employee wage. Detailed LWF page coming soon.

Are the Labour Codes 2025 in force yet?

The four labour codes (Wages, Social Security, Industrial Relations, OSH&WC) are notified but not fully operational. States including Maharashtra are still drafting rules. Once enforced, they will replace 29 central labour laws. Tracker page coming soon.
